AI runs invoices, inventory, design and HR at a billion-dollar company

giyu_codes shared how AI was implemented across a company operating in the low billions: computer use downloads vendor invoices, agents reconcile data to ERP, image generation cost fell from $30k to $1k a month, and HR onboarding takes under an hour.

What are people doing then?

How are you guys this far behind?

AI computer use:
- login to Costco portal (and other vendors) to download invoices, contracts, and all the rest of our data
- upload data to our platforms that don't have an API

Agentic workflow:
- automated form upload from almost every external source, extract data, reconcile to our ERP and PMS (internal PMS has already been fully replaced with our own AI native PMS)

- automated inventory management from our warehouse (quality control through images and video confirmation, syncing inventory across e-commerce and wholesale, routing and fleet coordination, slotting and mapping optimization)

- finance remittance process all facilitated through AI with a UI that lets the user just click to confirm or write a comment to change things. No chatbots. Before, people were labeling the bare minimum of things like "returns" or "advertisement". After, we found that there were dozens of other labels that could have been added over time, so now that AI extracts it for us we can start understanding our money more and pulling different levers to test things out. This past week we were able to commit another $4m on a product because we finally know more about which products sell better and quicker.

- tech packs, flat lays, BOMs, 3D modeling, and the full design process facilitated with AI. Our image gen went from $30k a month to $1k a month as we optimize towards efficient research process. All of our designers are onboard and use our internal apps. From idea to factory, we have every part enabled with AI and it cut our time down significantly.

- HR and IT also automated with an onboarding time of less than one hour. All materials, logins, permissions correctly assigned to the hire. This was literally one prompt to reverse engineer our resource groups and security groups to see what makes up an employees profile, then decision making to move it forward. Training videos, HR internal comms, job descriptions, in-house resume screening, and full orchestration of pre-boarding to hire.

- our Claude usage is at an all time low as we have been continuously automating tasks.

This is maybe 1/10th of what I was able to accomplish at a company operating in the low billions.

And there are more companies that I've worked with that I have impacted similarly.

So genuinely if these people are supposed to be on the cutting edge then what are you guys actually doing with your time?
