Mixed workflow with Claude, CAD and Houdini.
Claude modeled the robot in Python using build123d. The model was then brought into Houdini, where Claude built an APEX rig.
I blocked out a rough hand animation. Claude refined the timing and layered secondary motion on top. Lookdev and render in Karma XPU.
Claude is really good at writing Python CAD code. It follows instructions and references closely, and it’s very token efficient, barely using any tokens for the modeling part.
I clearly see a strong hybrid workflow here for this kind of work.

A robot modeled and animated with Claude, CAD and Houdini
Jan, a Houdini designer and creative technologist, had Claude model a robot in Python with build123d, rig it in Houdini using an APEX rig, and refine a hand-blocked animation with secondary motion. The result was rendered in Karma XPU.
