Pothole image classifier 15x cheaper and as fast as Jev

I built an image classifier that runs as fast as Jev but is 15x cheaper.

It's a simple image classifier that does one thing: detect if an image has a pothole.

Why is this important for me?

The government and the public would never use a closed-source model owned by a foreign entity. I needed to train my own classifier for ensure our data is parsed at home.

So I downloaded open-source pothole datasets and trained my model on it. Added Evals and built a simple harness.

That's it. I didn't have to go through a tutorial hell, no machine learning PhD needed.

In 2020, this would have been a 3-month project for me. Now, it took me less than a day.

Over the past few months, I have met dozens of Government officials, politicians, and news channels.

They notice the improvements in the app, it signals that the founder is serious.

Being a full time entepreneur, AI gives me the ability to focus on AIEngg while building this public utitilty on the side.
