An old ceiling HVAC unit brought online with a $25 IR blaster

Dan Romero photographed the Mitsubishi cassette unit and its unreliable remote and asked Codex for a fix. It recommended a BroadLink RM4 Mini, reverse engineered the remote's infrared commands and built a local web app to set the temperature.

I have an older Mitsubishi ceiling-cassette HVAC unit controlled by an unreliable infrared remote.

Last week I took a photo of the unit and the remote and asked Codex for a solution.

It suggested I order a BroadLink RM4 Mini for $25 on Amazon.

I plugged in the device and then Codex set it up, reverse engineered the IR commands from the existing remote and built a local web app to control the temperature.
