the motion existed before the video did. i designed outset law’s identity as a system with it already in my head.
what i didn’t have was the tools to bring it to life myself.
so i gave claude my illustrator artboards with a direction note for each frame (that’s the storyboard in the image), then went through 8 iterations.
here’s every prompt after the first one, one for each round of revisions:
2. no transitions between frames, just the elements animating and transforming. improve the entry animation, and find a better solution for the change from stacked to horizontal.
3. continue with all the slides and add sound that fits the project. make some parts faster, and make the motion feel flowy, modern, dynamic and kinetic.
4. more subtle music, it’s a law firm. the chapter part can go faster, with no animation, just the number and colours changing. from the yellow poster to the chapters, extend the box on the sides and create the lines at the bottom. no rotations, everything should come from the shape. the logo should get less tall while every element finds its thickness.
5. between the last pattern posters, a very fast snap to full squares, then the next pattern. end by turning the last poster into the symbol: the elements come together into the square, then the lines appear. subtle, premium piano, and something more elegant than the swoosh.
6. start with the symbol: a square, then the lines, then the name. the holder slide should pass quickly. the text box should match the place and height of the pattern that follows. photo poster first, then the posters in order. at the end, the squares merge into one centred square, it gets smaller, the lines appear like in the intro, then the full palette flashes by.
7. remove the small text on the sides and keep the horizontal logo for the ending. open with the icon alone, centred, at the height of the stacked logo, then let it reshape into the logo without scaling while the name appears.
8. no website on the last screen. the icon should form in the centre, then move as the words appear. the pattern should multiply, the photo should appear instantly, and the square steps should be almost invisible. make every transition feel effortless, and cut it to 30 seconds.
claude wouldn’t have made this film in the form it exists without my direction.
